BROWSING:  Style

Are you ready for the change of seasons? You can snag a few trendy sweaters and a new pair of cute boots … but what about your hairstyle? It could be time to try something different – or, maybe it’s a good time to switch up your hair care routine with new products. MyCity asked our 2023 City’s Choice Award-winning Hairstylist, Lia Beaudrie of Refinery Hair Co. to share some expert tips for starting the season with great hair.

My personal interior design style is inspired by many factors. I gravitate toward peaceful art with soft colors, textures of fringe, warm leathers, mixing patterns and warm woods against airy backgrounds. If possible, I also love to make the interior space complement the home’s exterior style, its age and setting. I like the choices inside to reflect the overall character of the home. For example, you would feel surprised and confused if you walked into a cute bungalow that had charming details on the outside and modern, simplistic or sleek finishes on the inside. I would want to bring that outside feeling indoors.

This season, clothing trends and styles for kids are both basic and unique! For example, grade-schoolers will love graphic tees and jeans with embroidery or patches which can be new and trendy. However, as always, kid’s clothing for this age group needs to withstand quite a bit of wear and tear! With this in mind, we recommend sticking to cotton T-shirts and classic jeans that won’t break the bank when they need to be replaced, especially with the speed at which kids grow out of things.

It’s never too early (or too late) to start thinking through back-to-school fashion. And, even if you’re no longer a student, it’s fun to take style cues from those headed back to the classroom. After all, BTS looks are fun, youthful and on-trend!

The SHIFT team has already begun tracking the best fall fashion trends to look forward to when temperatures start to drop … again. But if you’re like us and you aren’t ready to think about the next round of cooler weather just yet, you can still shop our favorite spring/summer fashion trends while there’s still time to prep your wardrobe for layering season!

While fashion designers rarely reach a consensus on color these days, mood-boosting rainbow hues are abundant and here to stay. Remember the color of the year is magenta – a pinky shade of red, more berry than anything. Shades of orange, yellow and cool blues are also topping the charts of style points and should not be ignored in warmer, sunny summer weather.

While April Showers bring May flowers, it can sometimes still be rainy in May. We start this month’s style trend with a new jacket!

When the March Vogue Magazine Style Edition described spring fashion trends, the SHIFT team was oh so happy to read, “The vibe will be creative, adventurous and most of all, fun.”

Sure, winter is technically still here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a head start on your wardrobe for the warmer days coming. Check out the best spring 2023 fashion trends that came from the runways, then shop each one to start wearing them now. You know what they say: the early bird gets the … compliments!

Hello, February! Let’s add some excitement and spice up the gray days ahead with a bold pop of color!

As we settle in for more months of cold weather, let’s start your New Year’s style with outerwear. Hats, mittens, boots and gloves should all keep you warm, but they most definitely can be the pop, the WOW! factor of an outfit. Cute pom-poms on hats, faux fur cuffs and animal print, camo or plaid details on mittens and fingerless gloves allow you to match shoes, hats or the color of your coat. Quality faux fur (like designs from Fabulous Furs and Jayley) and sleek, wind-resistant Anorak puffers remain in fashion and all can be purchased locally at SHIFT.

T’was the week before Christmas … and you still need gifts for your nearest and dearest!
