BROWSING:  Style

It pains me a bit to write an article about back-to-school but, here we are in August – ‘tis the season! Whether you’re looking for cute, comfy or preppy styles, we’ve got you covered. This month, we’ll explore the best back-to-school and work outfits for 2024, including style tips for putting these outfits together.

When we talk about July ‘24 trends, we’re talking flowy dresses, vacation swimwear, beach cover-ups, linen sets, knitted slides – and that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. The season’s staples like simple tanks, white jeans and beach totes are not to be omitted, either. But most importantly, dresses and easy-breezy skirts you can wear to weddings, upscale lunches and parties are the keys to your fun, summer wardrobe!

June is going to be FUNtabulous!

This month’s column was inspired by happenings in April including two major events: First: the surge and rise of women’s basketball during March Madness (along with the elevation of women in sports and our place in this world) and second: the total solar eclipse! Over the past months, the SHIFT in energy has been palpable and inspiring, and has projected us into May where positive vibes can continue to thrive as we wrap spring and head toward summer.

Spring is in full bloom, and what better way to celebrate all that the season has to offer than by attending or hosting a beautiful garden party? This month, we are covering everything – from etiquette to what to wear – for all of the fabulous spring soirées adorning your social schedule.

In Spring-Summer 2024, sustainability reigns supreme. We are constantly on the lookout for measures that have a positive impact on the environment and the local community.

As this is the annual My City  “Bridal Issue” I want to set the tone for this month’s “My Style” piece with some recent wedding statistics from Vogue  and Pinterest.

Times are tough for many, the world is in turmoil and clothing designers responded to this with a palette of predominantly black & white AND GRAY looks on last fall’s runways, forecasting for early 2024. Safe? Yes, but also pragmatic.

For our final article of 2023, Team SHIFT wants to start by expressing gratitude. We are grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit of our unique style knowledge with OUR city and My City readers, including seasonal trends, fabulous upcoming things to look for, best color pairings and so much more! We are grateful for our SHIFT shoppers, new and seasoned, and grateful that you are ready to SHIFT your vibe to positivity when reading MCM.

Tis the season  for sweaters, sparkles, good cheer and, of course, gift-giving! Welcome to our Holiday Shopping Guide for gifts everyone is sure to love!

October brings cooler days and as the weather shifts, so should your style!

Our Best Dressed features highlight local people who were nominated because they have a sense of style that makes a statement: fashion forward, professional, effortless or dramatic … their looks let elements of their personalities shine through. We were granted an opportunity to take photos on the campus of Mott Community College, which celebrates their centennial this year. Our thanks to Marketing & Communications Manager, Bob Campbell, for his assistance with access to the locations.
