Fresh Styling for Fall

0

Fall fashion has arrived, and with a new season comes new trends. Each year, we (at SHIFT) study the runways, attend the buying shows (which happen six months before a season) and everyday street style to select  the current looks that we (and you) can get behind. From color stories to fresh styling, see what’s in store for fall 2024.

It’s no secret that red has made its mark in the fashion world. This season, choose rich and juicy wine red, deep red and elegant ruby – consider it your elevated way of dipping into the trend. We love an all-over look for dresses, while for work, elevated or weekend style, pair a wine-tone velvet top with gray or navy or great denim, or add coveted accessories – metallic or leather belts, beaded and feathered earrings and so much more. As you all know, accessories matter!

This fall, like many before, layering is key. September can be lovely and warm, with chilly mornings and crisp evenings. Layer up and embrace the vintage-inspired way of dressing that’s all about layered knits, made-to-last tweeds, cozy cords, suede and textured sweaters to love and live in this season and next. Speaking of layering, remember being a kid and hunting through a cluttered jewelry box, then throwing on some beads with a sparkle dress and your mom’s too-big-for-you shoes? This season’s all about piling on the pieces that make you happy, aka playing dress-up! Think sequins, patent, transparent tulle, chunky statement jewelry and lots of embellishments. Fun!

The quickest route to a great outfit: a monochromatic moment. As an alternative to all black, try our favorite spin on this season’s neutrals – “latte” dressing. Who doesn’t love a warm latte on a fall day? From a shot of espresso to layers of caramel and mocha, this softer take on an all-over color is subtle, yet elegant. Bonus: your go-to metallic accents will make the look pop even more!

September brings “back to school chic”, a street style for the girl on the go. SHIFT encourages not-so-typical athleisure, fitted in the right places to flatter, paired with oversized yet put-together pieces in non-athletic neutrals like beige, olive, brown, gray and black, with details like puff sleeves, polo collars and buttons or zippers. Easily throw them on, then pair with white leather sneakers and even a blazer for added polish.

And don’t forget, SHIFT is partnering every month with creative, women-owned small businesses for our Wednesday “parking lot parties at the corner of creativity!” The August participants made coir welcome mats of their own creative choosing, and were able to try vitamin and supplement infusions, immune boost shots from Amp Infusions, mini-manis and chair massages from Spa Naturelle and great libations and charcuterie from Fenton’s Cheese Lady. On Wednesday, September 25, our party will feature a Western Hat Bar! The workshop will include feathers, leather, silk ribbons, arrowheads, rawhide and more. Come join the FUN and SHIFT into fall with us and our partners at 1011 Fabrics and Swan Home + decor! Follow @shiftflint on facebook and Instagram for all of the season’s best styles!
