The Protect MI Pet project looks to get an initiative on the November 2024 ballot in Michigan that will create a registry of convicted animal abusers and bar them from animal ownership for a period of time. The initiative will also change property laws to spare abused animals more suffering in cages while their abusers await trial. Visit protectmipet.com to volunteer or donate, or for more information.
This Friday, March 17, the legend finally ends after 40-years. The vaunted Rats of Unusual Size have finally decided to put an end to the misery. “It’s time,” says founder Jim Fourniadis. “We’re all getting old. After 40-years, it’s time to retire The Rats and there isn’t a better place to do it than where it all began at The Local.” Since, um…well, forever, the Rats of Unusual Size have tarnished the city with their punk mayhem at the Local 432. This Friday will be the final show ever. Joining Fourniadis onstage will be Tim Flynn (drums), Steve Reddy (bass), and Gary Mueller (guitar). As an extra special surprise, the band will be joined by original New York members Tom Cassar (bass) and Andy Pagel (drums). The Rats of Unusual Size will also be accompanied by bands The Guilty Bystanders and The Halftones.
