On April 11, join Sheriff Swanson and a vast coalition of animal lovers in the fight against animal abuse and cruelty for the kick-off of the Protect MI Pet project – a ballot initiative to help protect the innocent animals that cannot protect themselves. Protect MI Pet is an initiative to help abused animals by holding their owners accountable and finding the victims loving and supporting homes. The Protect MI Pet project looks to get an initiative on the November 2024 ballot in Michigan that will create a registry of convicted animal abusers and bar them from animal ownership for a period of time. The initiative will also change property laws to spare abused animals more suffering in cages while their abusers await trial. Visit protectmipet.com to volunteer or donate, or for more information.
