Whether it’s filing new paperwork for the first time or handling problematic people for the millionth, enduring challenges alone is no easy feat. It’s suffocating, not knowing where to find help — or even if help is within reach. The same is true for landlords and investors. As the laws and the property-renting landscape changes, small and fledgling landlords alike are caught in a chaotic environment. It’s overwhelming, especially as they’re overshadowed by larger groups which already seem to have all the answers. If you feel like this describes you, don’t worry: the truth is that you aren’t alone. The Genesee Landlords Association is there for you.

As college costs continue to climb, the State of Michigan has launched several programs to make postsecondary education at community colleges more accessible. These programs offer substantial financial support for recent high school graduates and adult learners.

Beginning in the fall, the University of Michigan-Flint will offer a Master of Science in Applied Finance (MSAF), a fully online program designed to equip students with practical financial expertise for career advancement or a transition into the finance industry. With an asynchronous format, the program is ideal for full-time professionals and students balancing busy schedules.

On February 1, Sloan Museum of Discovery unveiled an exciting, hands-on experience designed to change the way visitors think about math. 2theXtreme-Math Alive! is an interactive exhibit featuring 32 activity stations where guests can explore the real-world applications of math through sports, music, fashion, photography, robotics and more.

For many, visiting an art museum can feel like a passive experience – strolling through galleries, admiring paintings and sculptures, and reading descriptions on placards. However, the Flint Institute of Arts is transforming this approach through its Gallery Learning Experience (GLEx), an interactive educational program designed to deepen visitors’ engagement with art.

Navigating the transition to adulthood can be overwhelming, but Michigan State University (MSU) Extension’s Adulting 101 program is designed to help young people develop the essential life skills they need to succeed. Covering topics like financial management, job stability, housing and mental health, this free program offers practical guidance in an accessible and engaging format.

At just 16, Remington Steenwyk set sights on sustainability’s vast, unexplored potential. Raised in Onekama, MI and later residing in Caledonia, Remington possesses a passion for engineering that blossomed early. “Growing up in areas rich in natural beauty, I saw firsthand the impacts of environmental neglect,” she says. This exposure kindled her interest in finding practical solutions to pressing environmental issues, steering her to her current path.

In the spring of 2024, Kettering University hosted a remarkable seminar series on AI and Applications, drawing attention to the cutting-edge work being done by its esteemed faculty. The series was spearheaded by four key presenters, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table.

Designed for young art students entering grades 9-11, this unique initiative offers personalized guidance from working artists, providing resources and opportunities beyond those typically available in K-12 educational institutions.

Since January 2022, the Genesee Career Institute (GCI) has been offering adults free, hands-on training that leads to well-paying jobs in high-demand career fields. The program is designed for those who are at least 18 years old and currently enrolled and actively participating in a Michigan Region 6 Adult Education Program.
