Sorority Receives Grant to Support Youth Programming from CFGF

The Flint Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in collaboration with the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), has received a grant of $3,500 from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) to support youth programming.  Specifically, the funds will support the chapter’s Delta Academy and Delta GEMS initiatives for girls and the EMBODI program for boys.

According to a press statement, the grant will enable the youth participants to engage in expanded cultural and educational opportunities.  “Our Chapter is extremely pleased to benefit from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s grant award,” says Ineatha Waters, Chapter President of Flint Alumnae. “It is collaborative efforts like this that will create possibilities and improve the lives of the youth in our city.”

Flint Alumnae Chapter has provided charitable programming to the residents of Flint and Genesee County for 65 years, with special emphasis on empowering youth through personal and educational development. The DREF is a national, nonprofit foundation established by the Sorority; Flint Alumnae maintains a charitable fund with DREF.
