Fresh Fall Food Friday

0

Get ready for the crisp, cool air this weekend is going to bring and fill you’re your home with the aroma of cinnamon and spice! Apple Crisp, still warm from the oven and topped with a scoop of French Vanilla Bean ice cream, is one of my family’s all-time favorite desserts, especially in the fall when apples are in abundance at the local orchards. I like to use a variety of apples such as Granny Smith, Jonathan, Honey Crisp, McIntosh to name a few. Here is my favorite recipe for Apple Crisp, one your family will surely love, too!

Apple Crisp

  • 8 c. apples, cored, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ c. flour
  • ½ c. sugar
  • ¼ t. salt
  • 1 T. cinnamon
  • 2 T. fresh apple cider
  • 1 t. vanilla

Topping

  • 1 c. flour
  • ½ c. oats
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • Dash of cinnamon

Directions

  1. Lightly grease 9×13 baking pan. Place the apple slices in a bowl, add the cider and stir. Add the remaining ingredients and mix together. Pour into baking pan.
  2. For the topping cut cold butter into small cubes. Mix with the brown sugar and flour until crumbly. Spread topping evenly on the apple mixture. Bake in a 375-degree oven until topping is brown and apples are bubbly, approximately 35-45 minutes.
  3. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
