Fenton Concerts in the Park

Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket and enjoy a variety of free music concerts, on Thursday nights, at Fenton’s millpond gazebo with family and friends. Tonight, the band Captured Detroit will perform a tribute to Journey. Rain location — Fenton Community & Cultural Center, 150 S. Leroy Street. 7-8:30pm. The concert is free!

Concerts at the Valley

Relax and enjoy live music by Ghost Note at Genesee Valley Center’s Outdoor Village. Ghost Note performs Jazz, Hip-Hop and Funk. Arrive at 6:30pm and have fun with DJ Psycho before the concert. There is limited seating so, you may want to bring a chair. No outside food or beverages allowed, but food and drinks are available for purchase. 7-9pm. Admission is free.

Genesee County Fair

Come out and enjoy this family event from Monday Aug. 19-Sunday Aug. 25 that attracts more than 150,000 visitors featuring live stock, carnival rides, an entertainment tent, monster trucks and derby races, a baby animal tent and petting zoo, Bingo tent, racing pigs, a hog-calling contest, a dog show, Cornhole tournaments, tomato baseball, Pure Pro wrestling, an X-Treme chainsaw show and much more. Grandstand events happen daily with a special guest performance by Trace Adkins on Thursday.

Movies Under the Stars: Peter Rabbit

Enjoy this summer outdoor movie, Peter Rabbit, played on a 30-foot movie screen. The evening will also include lawn games, activities, music and dancing and snacks in a safe and family-friendly environment. The pre-party starts at 7:30pm and the movie begins at dusk. Crim Festival of Races

Enjoy two-days of family fun as the city of Flint welcomes more than 15,000 runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts to participate in this annual event featuring the Crim 10-Mile Race along with a variety of other races, a Health and Fitness Expo, a Friday evening Crim Pasta Party and the Michigan Mile Race Series. Races begin Saturday at 7:30am, followed by an afternoon of fun and live bands, an entertainment tent, food vendors and more.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad Day Out with Thomas 2019 Steam Tour

Travel back to a time when things were a whole lot simpler. Crossroads Village is a Great Lakes town from the turn of the century with 34 historic structures and a thriving community. Enjoy a 40-minute journey on an authentic Baldwin Steam locomotive, the Huckleberry Railroad, take a scenic ride on the Genesee Belle, a replica of the paddlewheel riverboats that were popular during Mark Twain’s time, catch a show at the Colwell Opera House or learn a trade from one of the village’s craftspeople. This weekend, everyone’s favorite blue engine will be visiting the village. Tickets include admission into the village, a 40-minute train ride with Thomas, a meet-and-greet with Sir Topham Hatt and Bob the Builder, Thomas and Friends themed activities along with more village fun. It is recommended that Huckleberry Railroad train tickets by purchased in advance as the train often sells out. Open 9am-5pm.

Michigan Renaissance Festival: Highland Fling

Take a time-travel adventure into the 16th century where patrons will enjoy the sights and sounds of a 17-acre village complete with building reproductions of Renaissance shops, taverns and a beautiful castle. Continuous entertainment takes place on the streets and on 17 themed stages featuring comedy, theater shows and music. While strolling the village, enjoy a variety of adult and children games, people-powered rides and full-contact armored jousting tournaments. Also, enjoy fabulous food and browse the Crafter Marketplace where over 300 artisans display their gallery-quality works for sale. This weekend, the Highland Games will have patrons cheering for their favorite athlete in this eight series event. Championships on Saturday and State Masters on Sunday.
