The Capitol Theatre: Mark Farner’s American Band & The Guess Who

Mark Farner is the reason. As one of the founding members, lead singer, lead guitarist, and writer of more than 90 percent of the Grand Funk music catalog, Farner has always been known as the energetic driving force on stage, the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top of the charts. From his soulful voice and power rock riffs, to fueling the Funk with his atomic stage presence. His story and his imprint on music starts with Flint and since 1969 from his humble beginnings and blue-collar outlook, Farner has captained a global crusade for love and freedom and became a rock ‘n’ roll icon. Fifty years later – he commands the stage with the same intensity performing epic hits that defined a generation. Mark Farner’s American Band will honor Farner’s golden anniversary in music, as well as shine a spotlight on his legendary contributions to society, in his 2019-2020 50th Anniversary Tour.

The Guess Who, a group that’s connected with the masses throughout an exultant hit parade spanning fourteen Top 40 hits “You’re going to see an excellent version of the songs and hear exactly how they should sound or be played,” verifies founding member and original drummer/songwriter Garry Peterson. “We’re coming at a new generation of fans who are seeing how the band can execute with enthusiasm. And we’re also making sure the respect level remains at an all-time high for how the music was initially recorded and remains at an all-time high for the fans who have been with the band from the beginning.” 8-11pm.
