At this year’s formal banquet and ceremony, the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame inducted eight individuals and three teams into the Class of 2022. The individuals were: Marty Embry (Flint Central Basketball); Gwen Wentland-Mikinski (Grand Blanc Track & Field); Michael Miller (Flint Northern Track Team); Jake Long (Lapeer East Football); Darryl Johnson (Flint Central Basketball); former Beecher Girls Basketball Coach Dave Hollingsworth; Ben Lewis (Fenton Football and Wrestling Teams) and longtime media member, Tom Skinner. The teams included the Michigan School for the Deaf 1961, 1962 and 1963 Track & Field teams; Flint St. Matthew’s 1962 Basketball team; and the Powers Catholic 1993 and 1994 Girls Golf teams. The newest class brings the total membership in the GFASHOF to 303 individuals and 83 teams.
