The Flint & Genesee Chamber Golf Classic was held on June 14 at the Flushing Valley Country Club. The annual event gathers business leaders from throughout the region to foster networking and camaraderie. Thirty-six teams participated and finishing at a whopping 17 under par, the My City Magazine team took the tournament trophy, as well as the $680 “Skins” prize.

Said Tim Herman, Chamber CEO, “The Golf Classic is an annual Chamber fundraiser that area leaders look forward to. It’s great to provide a fun day on the course for a business community that works so hard to grow the region.” My City Magazine player Jonathan Schlinker was excited about the team’s win. “I had a blast playing in my first Flint & Genesee Chamber Classic Golf Outing, he said. “It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. It was a great way to meet new people, network and learn about businesses from all over the county. I’m already looking forward to next year.” The My City foursome included Schlinker, Ryan Francis, David Struder and Drew Vuckovich.

Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network was the Golf Classic title sponsor. Additional sponsors were McLaren Flint, Elga Credit Union, Yeo & Yeo, FirstMerit Bank, Health Plus of Michigan, King Par Superstore, Gaines Jewelry, Financial Plus, Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy and Signs by Crannie. “This is my first Golf Classic as the Chamber’s new director of member services,” said Heather Kale. “I’m glad that so many businesses stepped up to sponsor this event. Their support offers local businesses the opportunity to solidify deals and make things happen.”
