Happy New Year! Last year is old news, and I hope you’re not sitting and thinking about what you could have done better. That is now the past, and you have a fresh start.

style0118-2I want you to start thinking about how you present yourself to the world. You are a powerful individual! I want to make sure that, in 2018, you are aware of your power and uniqueness – this is your “brand.” Remember: how you feel about yourself speaks loudly through how you dress and present yourself to the world.

Now, we know my columns are all about fashion. Creating your style is the easy part; but making sure you feel great about yourself inside can be tough at times. This year, create a wardrobe that makes you happy. Throw away all the clothes that make you feel depressed and powerless. This will help you to align the contents of your closet with what you want out of 2018.

style0118-1Think about how you want to speak to the world in 2018 through your attire. This is very important! There is an old saying that still remains true: “You will never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Let’s make sure we make the best first or second impression in 2018. In order to make a good impression with your personal brand, you have to know what your goal is. To all of you who are wondering what a personal brand is, it is nothing but the way you present yourself to the world. One can define it as the ongoing process of establishing a prescribed image or impression in the mind of others.

Here are five tips for choosing a wardrobe that represents you in the best way.

  1. Know your measurements: waist, bust, inseam, etc.
  2. Get the proper undergarments.
  3. Make a vision board for your life and dress accordingly.
  4. Throw away all clothes that don’t make you feel good.
  5. Buy quality over quantity.

In 2018, forget the past and bring forward the person you know you can be! Dress accordingly. Your personal brand is important, no matter who you are. Remember: your uniqueness is your power. Do your thing in 2018!
