Michigan’s greatest race once again welcomed thousands of runners and walkers of all levels and abilities and the streets of Downtown Flint were packed with excited spectators for the city’s biggest celebration of the year. The event culminated with Kenyan, Julius Kogo, winning the men’s 10-mile Crim race for the eighth time. The women’s winner was Kenyan, Vicoty Chepngeno.

This FBEM fundraiser was held in the new Hunger Center Building. Attendees enjoyed delicious soups and bread from area restaurants, prize raffles, and each took home a ceramic bowl created by a local artist. Entertainment was provided by the Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus.

Football fans flocked to Atwood Stadium for this much anticipated event that kicks off the high school varsity football season in the Flint area. The eight teams included in this year’s showcase were Goodrich, Flint Powers Catholic, Grand Blanc, Midland Dow, Port Huron, Carman-Ainsworth, North Branch and Lakeville.

One of the summer’s most anticipated events, this celebration of Hispanic and Latin culture in Flint was once again a big hit attended by thousands. This year’s event featured authentic cuisine and craft vendors, as well as festive music and dance performances by El Ballet Folklórico Estudiantil and Los Hermanos Escamilla!

Hundreds of foodies gathered for this annual late summer event at the Captain’s Club at Woodfield to sample offerings from over 25 Grand Blanc Chamber restaurants. Attendees enjoyed networking, great food, giveaways and live entertainment by the John Vance Band.

Always a well-attended event, Bikes on the Bricks is the perfect weekend for the motorcycle enthusiast. Bikers from all over came to show off their custom bikes, enjoyed a motorcycle aerial show, police skills competition and rockabilly pin-up girl contest. It’s the coolest event on two-wheels!

Fore! As summer neared its end, the lush greens in Linden were filled with enthusiastic golfers who enjoyed entertainment, food and fun while raising funds for Hurley’s Level I Trauma & Burn Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.

More than 200 cancer survivors and their loved ones gathered at FIA for a celebration hosted by Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute (GHCI). The event was created to celebrate the thousands in our community who have successfully fought the disease. Attendees strolled the art gallery and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, as well as live entertainment including StoweGood, a musical duo who performed uplifting music and shared inspirational messages.

On July 26, My City Magazine Publisher, Vince Lorraine and his daughter, Courtney, rappelled down the side of The Durant building in Downtown Flint. Along with many other brave and adventurous “Edgers,” they helped raise funds for The Disability Network.™ TDN is dedicated to bringing visibility and increased awareness to the disability community, supporting those with disabilities to live independently. Co-sponsored by My City Magazine, the event raised funds that go directly to TDN as they continue investing in people and resources to make Genesee County more inclusive and accessible.
