From May 12-15, the Ford Tri-Motor Tour, hosted by EAA Chapter 77, flew into Bishop International Airport. Attendees were able to experience the golden age of aviation and take flight in a Ford Tri-Motor, giving passengers an opportunity to travel back to the early days of luxurious commercial flight. The Tri-Motor was one of the first airplanes used by America’s early commercial airlines and helped spur the creation of the commercial airline industry. For more info, go to FlyTheFord.org.
On May 6, 2016, ELGA Credit Union’s annual Diaper Drive brought in 61k and a truck full of diapers and wipes to benefit the Flint Diaper Bank. The money raised will purchase diapers at below cost prices.
Grand Circus, Michigan Council of Women in Technology, and TekSystems are working in conjunction with The Hagerman Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Downtown Flint, to bring Grand Circus’s Develop(her) Bootcamp, an intensive training course teaching students to become Java developers.
Celebrating the National Day of Prayer on May 5, around 300 Christian men and women from 25 Greater Flint area churches gathered at Downtown’s Riverfront Banquet Center for breakfast, music and Christ centered prayer.
The Genesee County Habitat for Humanity held its 7th Annual Habitat Olympics at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy in Flint. The Habitat Olympics is a fundraiser where teams are formed with local businesses, organizations, and groups to compete in construction-themed games to win gold, silver, and bronze medals. Along with the games, there was a silent auction, drywall raffle, prize wheel, refreshments, carnival-style games, and a large prize drawing.

On Saturday, April 30th, the undead gathered for the Burton Zombie Shamble. Thanks to their limping, grunting, and groaning efforts, they have helped take a bite out of hunger, for all the proceeds benefitted the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
This year, Honorable Duncan M. Beagle celebrates 25 years on the bench. He is currently one of five Family Court judges in Genesee County. He also presides over three specialty courts — a Drug Court for neglect parents, an Attendance Court for severely truant students and ADAPT Court to improve efficiency of increased number of paternity cases. And 1991 was a significant year for him. Not only was he appointed Circuit Court Judge by Governor John Engler, it was also the year he married his lovely wife, Dana – and the year he lost the ability to use his legs due to an illness and became wheelchair bound.
