Vote for Flint’s Lydia Taylor!

Flint’s Lydia Taylor named semifinalist in the sixth annual Breakthrough Global Challenge.

In early September, the Breakthrough Prize Foundation announced the top 30 student semifinalists in the sixth annual Breakthrough Junior Challenge global science video competition and one of Flint’s own made the cut.

Lydia Taylor, a student at Mott Middle College High School, entered a video about the Higgs Field which is responsible for elementary particles having mass. Prior, there was no explanation as to why some particles had mass and others didn’t. Lydia’s video competed against more than 5,600 applicants from around the world and was named one of 30 finalists. Contestants are competing for a total of $400,000 to further their academic career.

Lydia Taylor would love to win the competition to help her follow her dream of double majoring in astrophysics and English at Michigan State University.

Winners are chosen by popular vote. So, let’s help her out! View her video on the Breakthrough Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BreakthroughPrize/videos/
