Local Authors and the Art of Writing Flint Festival of Writers Begins This Weekend!

Alright, wordsmiths. It’s time to get your write on! The Flint Festival of Writers begins on Friday, September 13, with a kick-off party at the Ferris Wheel from 6pm-9pm. Join your local writers for food, drink and live music. Jump into some creative writing activities and find a new story to latch onto during a free book giveaway.

After the Friday night festivities, the festival gets going early Saturday morning with a welcome party at 9am. After enjoy a full day of activities and learning at the Ferris Wheel.

 

9:30am – What I Wish I Knew: Four Writers Share Their Experiences Writing and Publishing Featuring Bob Campbell, Jonah Mixon-Webster, Ben Pauli, and LaTashia Perry

11:00am – Art Activism and Ecopoetics: Exploring Your Environment through Lyrical and Conceptual Methods Workshop with Jonah Mixon-Webster

12:00pm – Book Fair Opens for Business

12:30pm – Poetry by Design: A Broadside Making Workshop with Elizabeth O, Connell-Thompson

2:00pm – Anthology Launch Party and Open Mic with the Teen/Tween Writers Workshop

3:30pm – Writing Our Stories: A Nonfiction Workshop with Kelsey Ronan

5:00pm – A Featured Reading with LaTashia Perry

 

After the final reading, head on over to Totem Books for the after party and open mic beginning at 7:00pm. Join other attendees for food, drink, and open mic good times.
