Christmas at Crossroads is literally lighting up the holiday season this year with thousands of lights decorating the authentic, turn-of-the-19th-century village. Executive Director Amy McMillan says that while the Huckleberry Railroad is probably the most iconic part of Christmas at Crossroads, “it’s the whole atmosphere – the Village is really a community, and not a don’t-touch museum—that makes the experience memorable and brings people back year after year.”

Live Christmas shows play at the Colwell Opera House and children have the opportunity to make vintage crafts and visit Santa Claus. The Huckleberry Railroad is a huge draw of course, but there is also the Parker Carousel, and visitors can shop for unique gifts for family and friends that they cannot find elsewhere. Over the years, Christmas at Crossroads has grown into a tradition for people near and far. “One of the greatest things for us,” says Amy, “is seeing generations of family coming together to Christmas at Crossroads: it is not uncommon to see four or even five generations of a family on a visit. Never a day goes by that we don’t hear that someone first came to Christmas at Crossroads Village as a child and now they are bringing their children. We love that families have made Christmas at Crossroads include their time at the Village as one of their great holiday memories.”

Amy encourages people who have never been to get out to Crossroads this holiday season, saying, “No matter how beautiful it looks in photos or what great things you read about Christmas at Crossroads, it’s even better in person.” ‘Tis the Season: don’t miss this unique and beloved attraction right in Genesee County!

“Picking a favorite season at crossroads is kind of like picking your favorite child. But everyone has a favorite thing about Christmas at Crossroads: the gorgeous lights, the fantastic displays, and most especially, the huckleberry railroad with its steam freezing in the crisp winter air and its beautiful holiday lights. There really is something particularly magical about being at crossroads village this time of the year.”

Everyone has roots. Traditions, communities and families connect us to time, place and one another. They stabilize us and offer comfort.
