The Vehicle City Gridiron Classic Opens the Local Sports Season!

It’s opening weekend for high school football in Genesee County and the Vehicle City Gridiron Classic returns to Atwood Stadium. Most Greater Flint schools are back in session with the rest starting after Labor Day, but the great Genesee County student athletes have already been hard at work for weeks. Cross Country, girls golf and boys soccer have already begun with more sports soon to follow.

Starting tomorrow, August 29 Genesee County football teams begin their season. This year, eight teams will compete in the 2019 Gridiron Classic. Tomorrow at 4pm the Grand Blanc Bobcats will take on Midland Dow and at 7:30 the Goodrich Martians will take on the Flint Powers Catholic Chargers. On Friday at Atwood, the Lakeville Falcons will play North Branch at 4pm and the nightcap will pit the Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers against Port Huron at 7:30pm.

On Thursday night, Genesee County (and slightly beyond) will host a plethora of games to choose from.
