Seminar: Pre-pregnancy Planning

0

McLaren Flint providers specializing in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) seek to educate women on boosting their health before conception and having a healthy pregnancy. Pre-Pregnancy Planning is a free seminar for women, happening on Wednesday, March 18, at the Hospitality House at McLaren, G-3170 Beecher Rd., Flint. Registration begins at 5pm with the program starting at 5:30pm.

“The decision to have a baby should start before conception,” says Jason McMaster, MD, one of McLaren Flint’s OB/GYN physicians and a speaker at the seminar, in a press release.  “Getting your body ready to carry a child full-term can begin before becoming pregnant, as well. We want to educate women on when the best time is to start to see an OB/GYN or nurse midwife. In turn, their provider can guide them through a healthy journey.”

Dr. McMaster will be joined by McLaren Flint’s Michelle Keeley, MD, and Lisa Cavett, CNM. The three providers will speak to women about pre-pregnancy health, what to expect during appointments, midwifery care and services offered at McLaren Flint. Providers will answer questions that are brought up during their presentations. They will also introduce women to the Family BirthPlace at McLaren Flint.

Expectant mothers who are patients at McLaren Flint give birth at the Family BirthPlace. Mothers enjoy the comfort of a special labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) maternity suite that has a home-like feel. This private room is where mom will stay from admittance into the hospital until she is discharged with her baby. McLaren Flint is the only area hospital to offer LDRP suites.

Women planning to attend the free Pre-Pregnancy Planning seminar are asked to pre-register at mclarenpregnancyplanning.eventbrite.com, or call (810) 342-1550.
