March is Women’s History Month, which celebrates the many noteworthy contributions made by women throughout history. To honor the significant strides women have made over the years, My City is again shining the spotlight on successful female business owners in Genesee County. These leading ladies shared what they have achieved, what it’s like to have their own businesses, and who has inspired them.

Their efforts can be appreciated, thanks to the Ruth Mott Foundation’s new award – an award that will recognize the exceptional leadership of someone making a difference in the lives of Flint residents.
Valley Area Agency on Aging has partnered with Mott Community College Department of Dental Hygiene to provide free oral health cleanings to local seniors in Genesee County and the city of Flint, thanks to $1,500 from Delta Dental Foundation.
This month, Genesee District Library will host its 16th Annual Black History Month Brunch, a community event that recognizes people who make a positive impact in Genesee County. The GDL’s biggest event provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to world history. This year’s brunch is set for Saturday, February 11 at the Genesys Banquet and Conference Center in Grand Blanc.
