Sat. May 12 Mother’s Day Tea

Enjoy a three-course tea, including scones, finger sandwiches, and dessert. Weather permitting, this event will be held in Sloan Museum’s Courtyard. Sloan Museum admission included—on the last day to experience Be the Astronaut! $15 adults, $10 youth under age 11. 12-1pm and 2-3pm.

Sat. May 12 The Flint Institute of Arts presents: 7th Annual LEGO Competition

This is a free, fun family event that everyone can participate in, observe, and enjoy. The Art School LEGO Competition is a day of events celebrating and encouraging creative play. Free activities include: guided LEGO building sessions in the Art School studios led by the Michigan Therapeutic Lego Users Group, open LEGO building in the Art School, LEGO-themed glass blowing demonstrations in the Hot Shop, and a screening of The LEGO Batman Movie in the FIA Theater. 1-4pm.

Sat. May 12 Longway Planetarium: Second Saturday Trivia Night

The “Reverend” Jonas Nightingale, an electrifying performer and con artist, is traveling with his ministry when his bus breaks down in a small Kansas town. The part-time reverend and full-time crook pitches his tent and invites the locals to a revival. But, the town sheriff is determined to stop Jonas from separating the townspeople from their money. Jonas’s real challenge arises when he meets the sheriff and her son, whose love forces an ultimate cynic to take a real leap of faith. Rated PG. Friday and Saturday 7:30-9:30pm, Sunday 2:30-4:30pm.
