Factory Two, a makerspace in Downtown Flint, is reopening, according to Manager Craig Farrington. And the goal is to open it safely and responsibly. “We believe this is achievable if everyone cooperates and commits to following our new safety policies,” Farrington said in a recently released statement.
Factory Two will reopen with adjusted hours today, Monday July 6., from 11am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. “We will let everyone know when we are able to expand our hours of operation and add Saturdays again,” he reports.
There are new policies and procedures at the makerspace. They are focusing on providing a safe space for staff and members to work in. “We’ll have someone in every morning before opening to sanitize and set up for the day,’ the manager states. “Equipment stations will be cleaned between users. We are working with our instructors to find ways to offer checkout classes while maintaining social distancing guidelines.”
Factory Two will not be offering public tours or drop-in services until further notice.
Everyone entering the makerspace is asked to wear a face mask, regularly use hand sanitizer, and maintain a six-foot distance from others. Everyone is also asked to follow posted guidelines regarding disinfection of surfaces and common touch objects and to postpone your visit if you have any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea.
“Thank you for your patience during these difficult times,” says Farrington. “All of us at Factory Two look forward to seeing our members back soon!”
