Community Open Skate begins at UM-Flint Pavilion

The ice-skating rink at University of Michigan-Flint has opened for the winter season in Downtown Flint. Free open skating began on December 4 at the rink, which is located at the University of Michigan-Flint Pavilion, 303 S. Saginaw Street, and will run through Feb. 28, 2020. Weather permitting, the rink will be open on Wednesdays from 6-9pm, Fridays from 5-8pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays 12-4pm. On Friday, Dec. 27, the rink will be open from 3-6pm.

Please call (810) 762-3441 to confirm rink status and hours. Rink is cleared periodically for ice resurfacing.

Skate rental is available for $3 inside University Pavilion (limited sizes and quantities). Please bring your own skates, if you have a pair.

To ensure the safety of all participants, please abide by the following rules:

Only wear skates on ice or protective matting, no boots/shoes can be worn on ice when others are skating. Use caution when skating and be considerate of others. Wearing a helmet while skating is recommended. Skate at your own risk. Users assume full responsibility for determining if conditions are safe for skating. Secure your belongings. The University is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Children, 17 years old and under, must be accompanied by a parent or an adult sponsor who assumes responsibility for supervision. Skate in counterclockwise direction. Carrying infants or children while skating is not allowed

The following are not permitted: dangerous play, including skating fast and weaving in and out around other skaters; the use of alcohol and smoking; loud, disruptive noise; dogs or other pets; hockey sticks, pucks, or other equipment used for play on the ice.
