On Saturday, February 8 the Unity in Diversity Concert will be held at Insight Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroscience, located at 4800 Saginaw St., Flint. The free festivities open to the public at 7pm.

This annual event celebrates Flint’s many cultures and promotes goodwill and understanding between them. “This is the fifth year in a row that we will make this event happen,” says Matt Packer, Choir Director at Mott Community College. “Each year we give the microphone to artists from many different parts of the community, and each year our message is that what unites us as a human family is greater than what divides us.” The evening features exhibits, cultural performances, delicious food, audience participation, music, dance, spoken word and storytelling.

The greater Flint community is one of creativity, spiritual depth and compassion. The purpose of “Unity in Diversity” is to show the richness of the diverse cultures of Flint and to reaffirm that our diversity of religion, national origin, sex, race, gender identity and age strengthens our community.

Sponsors of the event include the Flint Islamic Center, the Flint Jewish Federation, Court Street united Methodist Church, Mott Community College, the International Center of Greater Flint and the Arab-American Heritage Council.
