When spending time out in the backyard, we often miss the comfy amenities that we have indoors. Well, miss them no longer! You can create an outdoor oasis that will be the envy of the neighborhood. If you are new to gardening, herbs are perfect for getting your feet wet. They grow easily in a variety of conditions, and are great both indoors and out. They are quick to grow, quick to harvest, and generally only need between 3-6 hours of sunlight. Keep a few pots of your favorite herbs near the kitchen for a little snip here and there.

Fruit should be a staple of everyone’s diet. Besides being extremely tasty, fruit is a good source of vitamins and minerals and fiber, it’s low-calorie and low-fat, can protect the body against disease and is quick and easy to eat.

One of the most adventurous ways to add character and beauty to your backyard is to install a pond. We, as humans, love being near water. There is something about watching the wind ripple the surface or watching the fish swim that can bring a sense of calm or serenity to an otherwise chaotic day. If done right, your new aquatic habitat will be filled with natural beauty. It can take a little more work than you thought, but the final result will continue to pay dividends far into the future.

Vibrant, bright colors are trending at Linden Kitchen & Bath for 2020 home remodelers, according to Michelle Robins, third-generation owner of the 74-year-old business. “Color is coming in with a vengeance – orange, pink, blues and greens – just bright colors!” she exclaims.

“In ten years, we can have hundreds of micro-farms that will localize our production and we don’t have to rely upon fossil fuels to do it,” says Church. “We can build a community through food and create a healthier environment, all in our own backyard.”
