Community leaders, corporate sponsors, Bigs, Littles and other community members paid tribute to the individuals, businesses and organizations that have contributed to the vitality of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County. Attendees enjoyed dining, dancing, entertainment, a photo booth and presentations of the Bigs of the Year and Community Service of the Year Awards.

This annual event benefits the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and features fine wines, novelty brews and delicious hors d’oeuvres. The evening included a raffle and silent auction.

Founded by Flint dance great, Bruce Bradley, this annual festival was created as a way to give back to the community through the teaching of dance. Tap.ol.o.gy involves underprivileged Flint youth and brings together students of the program and dance professionals from around the world in a dynamic, energetic show that never disappoints. Another year, another great performance!

The FIA welcomed guests on a chilly evening with its annual fall fundraiser. The event offered a selection of craft beers, unique bourbons and live blues music by the Reichlin Small Group. Also on tap was a vintage camper photo booth, art demonstrations, giant games, a barbecue buffet and donut bar. Funds raised go directly toward covering bus transportation and art materials for elementary and secondary students participating in FIA education programs.

The Ruth Mott Foundation invited the community to welcome the season at its annual celebration on the grounds of the fabulous Applewood Estate. The free and festive family event featured cider and apple tasting in the heirloom orchard, animals in the historic barn, a drumming workshop by Kuungana African Drum & Dance Co., strolling entertainment by Riley McLincha (a.k.a. Johnny Appleseed), interactive farm activities and more!

Co-hosted by Flint Local 432 and Factory Two, this event raises money to help support operations for Flint Local 432. The latest installment featured great food tastings from several local chefs, live music and craft beers, plus demonstrations by Factory Two. Samplings included Meatball Sliders from Flour + Eggs, Vegan Harvest Chili from Little Flint Farm and Flint City Hard Cider.

The pinkest party in town brought breast cancer survivors together with community donors to raise funds for Hurley Breast Cancer Navigator Program. The highlight of the night was the live auction of creative bra designs donated by local businesses. Hurley and Financial Plus designed a corset autographed by Mark and Paul Wahlburg that sold for $12,500!

Raising over $11,000 for the Humane Society of Genesee County, supporters enjoyed a champagne reception, dinner, live music and a live auction. Funds will help micro-chip shelter animals, as well as cover shelter upkeep and spay/neutering costs.

Michigan’s greatest race once again welcomed thousands of runners and walkers of all levels and abilities and the streets of Downtown Flint were packed with excited spectators for the city’s biggest celebration of the year. The event culminated with Kenyan, Julius Kogo, winning the men’s 10-mile Crim race for the eighth time. The women’s winner was Kenyan, Vicoty Chepngeno.

This FBEM fundraiser was held in the new Hunger Center Building. Attendees enjoyed delicious soups and bread from area restaurants, prize raffles, and each took home a ceramic bowl created by a local artist. Entertainment was provided by the Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus.

Football fans flocked to Atwood Stadium for this much anticipated event that kicks off the high school varsity football season in the Flint area. The eight teams included in this year’s showcase were Goodrich, Flint Powers Catholic, Grand Blanc, Midland Dow, Port Huron, Carman-Ainsworth, North Branch and Lakeville.
