Okay, I admit it: I’m a cat person. I come from a family of cat lovers and there hasn’t been a day in my life that I haven’t had a cat as a pet. That’s why I was very upset when I received a hysterical telephone call from my daughter, in tears, telling me her beloved cat, Maddy, had gone over the Rainbow Bridge. I was upset, because I have lost dearly-loved pets and I knew how she felt. Our pets become so entwined with our lives that when they die, it feels like we’ve lost a family member. My daughter was forlorn for many days.

I have been reading for the last ten years that by 2035, the Social Security program will have to go through potential massive reduction in payout to stay solvent. This is an excerpt from the Social Security Administration:

A new study by the American Psychological Association says that constantly checking your e-mail, Facebook and Twitter accounts can be hazardous to your mental health.

“Look at me! Look at me! Look at me now! It is fun to have fun, but you have to know how.”

My husband loves electronic dance music. The thumping beats, the unrelenting rhythm of the tempo, the way the music moves through your body almost to your core to the cadence of your heartbeat.

Nothing puts a spring in your step faster than a warm, sunny spring day! And if we are lucky, the warm spell we enjoyed at the end of February will continue on into March. But it’s Michigan, so you never know. It could be raining, storming, 20 degrees below zero … or we could get a foot of snow in March (or April, or May). Nothing surprises us Michiganders. Regardless of the weather, the month of March brings us much to look forward to.

I were asked to say something nice about the month of March at its funeral, I’d have to decline. What’s there to say?

The spring season is upon us, and with it comes a few things we can count on: the mud, the sun coming up as we get out of bed, and the sudden itch to look for a new house. When it comes to someone’s ability to purchase a home, the main factor often revolves around the mortgage payment. Usually, that payment is going to be dependent upon the current interest rates that are available in the market.

General Motors recently announced that it would invest $1 billion across several U.S. plants, creating or retailing 1,500 jobs. Ford also announced it would cancel a planned $1.6 billion plant in Mexico and would instead invest $700 million to expand production in Michigan, adding 700 jobs. Chrysler recently announced it would invest $1 billion in Michigan and Ohio, adding 2,000 jobs while Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia have announced multibillion dollar investments, as well.

Even if La La Land cleaned up at the Academy Awards – and at press time, with the big night just ahead, it seemed like an all but sure thing – the #OscarsSoWhite complaints have deservedly abated this year. One of the major reasons is Moonlight, an indie drama about a young black man’s maturity and identity that earned eight Oscar nominations while both embracing and transcending race.

A specialty at Bubba O’Malley’s Wild Irish Inn, this dish consists of grilled chicken topped with bacon, cheese and honey mustard. On March 1, 2017, Bubba O’Malley’s will have undergone a makeover and menu change, becoming a new restaurant: Elgood’s. Don’t worry; although the eatery’s menu is changing, the folks at Bubba O’Malley’s shared their recipe for the delicious and easy-to-make Blarney’s Chicken.

We are pressing forward into 2017, which I personally believe is going to be a great year! Although we were recently pummeled with snow, freezing rain, and winds that moved my kids trampoline from our backyard into our neighbor’s front yard, the two things that I can guarantee as a financial advisor are:
