The month of November brings the thought of warm, comforting food now that the days are dark and cold. What’s more comforting than the aroma of mom’s meatloaf bubbling in the oven on a November day? Climate and the environment were the major focus when in 2010, Deepwater Horizon, an offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, exploded causing multiple deaths and the biggest oil spill in U.S. waters. Companies BP and Transocean received astronomical fines for their involvement. In 2011, the U.S. ended the life of Osama Bin Laden, the terrorist mastermind behind the September 11 attacks. The next year, Hurricane Sandy made landfall in New Jersey and New York causing $6.5 billion in damage. Then, in 2012, President Barack Obama won a second term after besting challenger, Mit Romney.
