The Crim Fitness Foundation has announced its 39th annual HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races. The press conference was Wednesday, August 19 at 10am. Those who attended learned details of the race, recognized long-standing Crim participants, and heard from special guest speakers such as local distance-running superstar, Grant Fisher, the event was at the HealthPlus of Michigan Headquarters.
Flint, Michigan – On September 12, 2015, Flint Mayor Dayne Walling will go nose to nose with former WBO and IBF heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd at the “Knock Out Kidney Disease” event. The fundraiser is being hosted by the Universal Kidney foundation as a way to generate awareness about Chronic Kidney Disease and support their community outreach and education efforts.
The public was invited to celebrate the 3rd Annual Pink Night ribbon-cutting at Blackstone’s Pub & Grill this morning. The event kicked off the 9th Annual Pink Night, a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser presented by Financial Plus Credit Union. Pink Night will take place at Blackstone’s on October 1.
The ribbon was cut this morning celebrating the opening of the 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, kid-friendly facility, the first of its kind located in a farmers’ market. Located on the second floor, the new center encompasses 12 pediatric specialty clinics, 24 exam rooms, a lab, an innovative teaching area and much more.
Tension has been high between the United States and Iran with the recent announcement of a nuclear arms deal. Many people were hopeful that the agreement would spur the release of three Americans who have been detained and imprisoned in Iran, including Flint native, Amir Hekmati. However, so far these prisoners have not been released. Luckily, Amir has a friend in Congressman Dan Kildee. Kildee, who has for years fought for Amir’s release, shared with My City Magazine what he and his staff have been doing to make sure Amir knows that he is not – and will not be – forgotten.
