The Back to the Bricks event has passed, and now it’s the bikers’ chance to shine! Bikes on the Bricks is back this weekend, September 11-13.

Held in Downtown Flint, Bikes on the Bricks is an annual event that includes a police-escorted motorcycle cruise, law enforcement skills competition, a motorcycle show with awards, police donut-eating contest, a beer tent and much more! Click here for a breakdown of the weekend’s busy schedule.

Bikes on the Bricks is a free event open to the public. Those wishing to take part in any of the events must register before each one. All events are free with the exception of the escorted motorcycle ride.

Pre-registration for the police-escorted ride is available at Vehicle City Harley-Davidson, Top End Cycle and Forest Cycle Works. The cost is $10 per rider and $10 per passenger. The ride starts at Vehicle City Harley Davidson (2400 Austins Parkway, Flint) at 11am on Saturday, September 12 and all participants need to check-in that morning at the starting location from 8-11am. The approximately 30-mile ride will end at around 1:30pm in Downtown Flint, with designated parking for the motorcycles.

If you want to show off your bike and possibly win a prize, make sure to enter the Motorcycle Show! Registration will be on Sunday, September 13, from 10am to 12pm, with judging from 1-3pm. Awards will be handed out at 4pm in eight categories including best of show, best builders, best sport bike, best restored antique and more.

Committee and board member, Paulla Schemm, hopes that people taking part in the event will leave with a particular thought in mind. “I hope people gain a greater respect for police officers who are on patrol with motorcycles, and the skills it takes to maneuver them in critical times,” she says.

Do not miss the annual Bikes on the Bricks! Proceeds from the police-escorted ride are donated to charitable organizations in Genesee County. Last year, recipients included Hurley Medical Center, Old Newsboys of Flint and others.
