The moment Dr. Bobby Mukkamala had envisioned for a year was drawing near.

Kyle Green remembers his first deer hunt. “I was eight years old and hunting with my dad when I got my first – I shot it with my grandfather’s gun,” he says. “We cleaned it and I went through the whole process. I remember being overwhelmed with pride; truly, it put me in a different mindset about the natural world and our resources.” That early mindset didn’t include dreams of glory or trophies; it didn’t lead to a hunger for the thrill of the kill. It led to an understanding and a deep respect for nature and as he grew into an adult, Green refined his mindset into a mission of conservation and protection of wildlife and its habitat on Earth.

In her 17 years of life, Rylie Dewley has accomplished much. In June, the Grand Blanc teen was selected as Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen 2021. The creator of Start Heart Smart (spreading awareness of heart disease) and a talented baton twirler, Rylie is the daughter of John and Tiffany Dewley and a senior at Grand Blanc High School where she is a majorette with the school’s marching band.

For one local girl, life has taken an entirely different direction than what she planned. Born and raised in Flint, Kiara Tyler attended Notre Dame College in Cleveland, OH with a major in political science and minor in criminal justice. After getting her diploma in 2014, she came home to Flint and pursued fashion design, instead. And boy, has that decision payed off for this young entrepreneur! Starting out small, selling her apparel line out of her apartment and the trunk of her car, Tyler is now owner of Kalm Clothing – a very popular, modern, unisex streetwear brand that was showcased in New York City at New York Fashion Week in February. This is her story.

It’s fitting that the former Patsy Lou Williamson Automotive Group, now Shea Automotive Group in Flint Township, is owned by a woman. Stacy Fields, along with partners, purchased the dealership in May of 2019. “I thank Patsy Lou Williamson and the late Don Williamson for the opportunity,” says Fields. “We implemented new management to build our own unique team.” According to Fields, Shea Automotive wanted to improve the culture at the dealership and be more customer oriented. “We feel like we are making great strides,” she reports. “We have spent the last six months perfecting our foundation so we can deliver better service to the community.”

There, he went to college, made progress and faced setbacks – but was focused on his dream and has made it a reality.
