Yes, it’s that day we have been waiting for. It’s National Rubber Duckie Day and it is always celebrated on January 13, according to holidayinsights.com. Muppet Ernie of Sesame Street first sang the song in 1970. The Rubber Duckie song reached No. 16 on the Top 100 Chart that year and it is still one of the most favorite childhood songs of all time.

The Genesee District Library always presents an action-packed weekend for the little ones and the upcoming weekend is no exception. On Saturday, January 11 the library presents Bubbleman! Bubbleman (also known as Ron Loyd) enchants library patrons with his strange and mesmerizing bubble magic. See volcano bubbles, tornado bubbles, kaleidoscope bubbles, square bubbles, and more. No bubble is too big for the Bubbleman! Please RSVP online at thegdl.org. Bubbleman will be performing at 11am at Burton Memorial Library and at 2pm at the Davison Area Library.

For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020 and what better way to kick off the celebration than with a New Year Hike. For-Mar has been inspiring Genesee County residents to get outside for 50 years.

Science Fiction has long been the realm of the dreamer. Years past, if you admitted your love of Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Flash Gordon or more, you were generally mocked. How things change. Today, science fiction and fantasy stories are the most popular things going. Winter nights are some of the best nights to hear wild coyotes “sing,” and a great time to learn about these amazing dogs. Visit Longway Planetarium at the Flint Cultural Center for First Fridays: Coyote the Trickster to study these fascinating creatures. Special guest featuring Seven Ponds Nature Center.
