One of Downtown Fenton’s newest dining destinations is rooted in one of the city’s oldest stories.
Housed inside a beautifully restored former bank at 100 S. Leroy St., The Vault has transformed a piece of Fenton’s history into a sophisticated seafood and steakhouse where the building’s past is as much a part of the experience as the menu itself.
Owned by restaurateurs Kosta Popoff and his wife Karrie, The Vault reflects their vision of creating a destination restaurant that celebrates both exceptional cuisine and the character of its historic surroundings. Rather than erase the building’s past, they embraced it, preserving the architectural details and history that make the space unique. Karrie is credited with all of the design work.
When The Vault opened in 2023, the goal wasn’t simply to create another restaurant. The renovation honored the building’s original purpose as a bank, preserving the massive steel bank vault that inspired the restaurant’s name while blending exposed architectural details with warm lighting, contemporary finishes and an upscale, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The result is a destination that feels both timeless and fresh.

Guests often begin with a stroll through the shops and historic streets before settling in for an evening featuring prime steaks, fresh seafood, oysters and one of the area’s most celebrated cocktail programs, led by Beverage Director Jon Foley.
For first-time visitors, the staff recommends starting with the Fresh Island Creek Oysters and Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice before choosing either the day’s fresh catch from the restaurant’s local seafood purveyor or the featured Steak of the Week, often showcasing premium Australian Wagyu or Allen Brothers Black Angus beef.
One menu item the team believes deserves more attention is the Shrimp Carbonara, praised for its elegance, rich flavor and fresh ingredients.
While exceptional food draws guests in, it’s the hospitality that keeps them coming back.
