1. When you were a kid, what did you want to grow up to be?
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a famous singer. I was actively involved in choir from fourth grade through my junior year of high school, singing alto. However, as I transitioned into college, my aspirations shifted toward nursing – I felt drawn to helping the sick and making a difference in people’s lives. But an unexpected twist came when I took a criminal justice class to fulfill a final credit requirement. That course ignited a newfound passion in me, and I realized my heart belonged to criminal justice. Life is full of surprises, and our journeys often evolve in ways we never imagined.
2. What was your very first job?
I worked in the summer programs at an elementary school, which was when I discovered my natural gift for connecting with children. Their energy, curiosity and innocence made me realize how much I enjoyed fostering their growth and potential. It’s a memory I cherish because it showed me the importance of nurturing young minds.
3. Describe your average weekend.
Weekends used to be about rest and recharging my energy. However, my schedule has evolved, and now my weekends often find me traveling internationally to educate communities about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating. It’s fulfilling work, and I’m grateful to be able to spread this vital message across the globe.
4. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
FISH! Growing up in the countryside, I developed a deep love for crappie – it brings back fond memories of home in the south. Over the years, my travels to the Caribbean introduced me to parrotfish, which has become a new favorite. Honestly, I could enjoy fish every single day – it’s a comfort food I never get tired of.

Some might call me loving, caring, selfless, optimistic, determined, creative and adventurous. Others might highlight my role as a philanthropist and a passionate motivator who inspires them to be their best selves. A few might say I’m loyal, supportive and always there for them. No matter their description of me, I strive to bring positivity and encouragement to everyone in my life.
6. What might we hear you sing at karaoke night?
You might catch me singing a heartfelt rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Why Does It Hurt So Bad”, bringing energy with Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” or sharing emotion through “Everything” and “Share My World” by Mary J. Blige. These songs speak to different parts of my journey and are always fun to perform.
