Prom Night Perfection

By now, the excitement is brewing amongst high school juniors and seniors as they prepare for the biggest dance of the school year – Prom. Once the “big question” is asked and everyone has their date, it’s time to start coordinating ensembles!

Cara Connor, a senior at Flint Southwestern Academy, and Christian Jackson, a senior at Mott Middle College were happy to model two different looks to inspire you for Prom 2016. Whether you prefer a long or short dress, dark or light suit, the goal is to make the look your own and to feel your best on this special day.

promstyle-5Cara looks amazing in this floor length, multi-colored gown. Don’t be afraid to go for prints this year; your date can easily coordinate with a matching tie as shown here. And, for strapless style success: don’t skip out on the double-stick tape and strapless bra for comfort throughout the night. Gown: City Triangles JCP $168. Shoes: INC, Macy’s $80

Just because Prom is a formal event, guys don’t have to settle for boring black. Switch it up with a handsome grey suit as shown on Christian. To create a clean and polished look, keep accessories to a minimum with a few bold pops of color. Grey Suit: J. Ferrar, JCP. Pants $90, Jacket $190. Shirt: Claiborne, JCP $50. Pink Tie: J. Ferrar, JCP $34. Shoes: DSW $38

During our photoshoot, we all agreed that this was our favorite suit. The fabric has a slight sheen, and the color is light and airy – perfect for spring. Also, this suit can be worn again to summer weddings or broken up as suiting separates for graduation and other events. Khaki Suit: J. Ferrar, JCP. Pants $90, Jacket $190. Shirt: Claiborne, JCP $50. Aqua Bow Tie: J. Ferrar, JCP $25. Shoes: DSW $38

promstyle-2How fun it will be to dance the night away in a short and flirty frock? This style has just enough sparkle to be fancy enough for Prom Night. If you’re 5’4” or shorter, this style may be best for you to avoid dragging a dress all night long. Dress: My Michelle, JCP $134.Bracelets: Worthington, JCP $26. Shoes: INC, Macy’s $80. Earrings: LC Lauren Conrad, Kohl’s $9
