The Whiting presents at The Capitol Theatre: Hiplet™

Hiplet™ fuses classical pointe technique with African, Latin, Hip-Hop and urban dance styles that are rooted in communities of color. It was specifically designed to make ballet accessible to all, by mixing it with current popular songs that will be familiar to audiences who don’t normally attend ballet performances. Performances may incorporate the rhythms of African drums with Tchaikovsky, arabesques and beat-boxing or even Tango en pointe – all while showcasing Hiplet’s trademark sass, hip movements, and struts against popular music audiences will recognize from Black Violin to Beyoncé. 8-10pm.

Fall in Love With the FCO

Join the Fenton Community Orchestra’s talented musicians for an evening of classical and movie music. The FCO is celebrating its tenth anniversary of being part of the Fenton community. The orchestra will perform a wide range of classical and movie music under the baton of Grammy-nominated music educator, composer, and conductor Andrew David Perkins. Attendees will have a chance to enter to win various prizes, including gift cards to local restaurants and gift shops. 8-9:30pm. This is a ticketed event – $10 general admission. Valentine’s Day Victorian Tea

Looking for a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Visit the Whaley House Historic House Museum the day after for a love-themed high tea party from 2-4pm. Enjoy your choice of tea as well as a delicious menu that includes traditional finger sandwiches and cakes. Costumes and period attire welcomed but not required!
