Signs by Crannie began as a one-man local sign shop. For the first decade or so, SBC grew organically, but as our customer base expanded, I realized our talent and capabilities reached far beyond those of a small local shop. After attending several trade-association meetings, it became clear that we had the potential to be a regional—and even national—player. Since then, we’ve continued to grow alongside the needs of clients of all sizes.
SBC specializes in everything from vehicle wraps to LED electronic message centers. Staying current with the latest technology is essential for tackling the most challenging projects. One of our most demanding jobs was the Godfrey Hotel in downtown Chicago—a 32-foot projecting custom canopy seamlessly connected to a 30-foot vertical blade sign, all installed in minus 15-degree temperatures. My team was incredible!
Many sign companies offer design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance, but few deliver them with our level of precision. Our team of true professionals makes me look good with their skill, commitment, and craftsmanship.
We’re proud to have created many notable works of functional art throughout the community, including the arches in Frankenmuth, Grand Blanc, and Lake Fenton; the new Genesee County building; and the Capitol Theatre. For me, it’s hard to choose a favorite, but I smile every time I notice the Flint Vehicle City Sign featured in hotel rooms, restaurants, stores, magazines, and even news intros.
We’re always looking to the future by utilizing technology. Some of the newest innovations in the sign world involve subtle advancements in materials and ever-increasing resolutions in digital printing and LED displays.
Finally, I’d like to salute all of my team members for pulling together this past year while I was recovering from open-heart surgery. They kept business running smoothly so I could focus on healing. I am truly blessed to have each and every one of them.
