Christmas is just around the corner and Santa is looking forward to the plates of cookies that will await him when he climbs down the chimney on Christmas Eve to deliver presents to everyone on his “Nice” list. And nothing speaks of the holiday more than the rich aroma of sugar cookies baking in the oven.

Just in time for the holidays, there is a new place in town where you just might find the cookie of your dreams! The Cookie Sir is an online business that offers some of the most exquisitely designed and scrumptious cookies you have ever seen or tasted. Owned by Anthony Lerma, the business opened in January of this year. “I have been baking for fun forever, ever since I was little!” Lerma exclaims. “I would stay at my grandma’s house and bake with her all the time.”

“It’s me sharing what I like to do and it’s fun when people ask for a special theme. I love a challenge.”

During the day, Lerma works at the Edward Jones home office in customer service. But he started baking and decorating cookies after work for friends and family. His cookies were so well liked, he decided to make it a business. “That’s (Edward Jones) my day job, but The Cookie Sir is my fun job,” he says with a smile. The popularity of his new business has grown throughout the year.

Baking each batch to order, Lerma’s products are designed to not only look special, but also taste amazing. “The goal is to make your eyes and your mouth happy!” he says. Online orders can be picked up, delivered or mailed anywhere in the U.S. Currently, Lerma uses one special recipe for his sugar cookies and frosts them with several flavors of royal icing including almond, lemon, orange and vanilla. He plans to add a peppermint icing for the Christmas season.

The Cookie Sir offers a variety of whimsical and holiday-themed cookies throughout the year. They have become popular for business meetings, birthday parties, showers and more. Recent designs include Minnie Mouse, Halloween, animal and “Star Wars” themes, to name a few. Many images of his creations are featured on The Cookie Sir Facebook and website.

Lerma has had a couple of large orders from local businesses including Hamilton Health Clinic, requesting “hero” themed cookies with the company’s logo for the clinic’s Hero Week. He even made cookie ambulances for Elite EMS. “It’s me sharing what I like to do,” Lerma says. “It’s fun when people ask for a special theme. I love a challenge.”

The Flint community and surrounding area have shown The Cookie Sir a lot of support and he gets many repeat orders. The self-taught cookie-maker individually wraps each cookie and boxes them with a special card. For the holiday season, Lerma plans to offer traditional Christmas-themed cookies – Santa and Mrs. Santa, Christmas tree, stocking, ornament, reindeer – and some special Flint-themed designs. “I’m ready for the holidays!” he says.
