Flint Loses Community Champion Chris Hamilton

Old Newsboys of Flint Director Chris Hamilton passed away on Sunday, March 1. He was 73.

For Chris Hamilton, life was about giving. His passion began at an early age when he would attend house calls with his father, a doctor in Linden. While working as an adult at AC Spark Plug, Hamilton joined the Old Newsboys and began raising money. He became a board member and then president of the organization in 1995. He also served as a member of the Burton Rotary Club, Flint Elks, Burton Eagles, Free and Accepted Masons and as a member of the Burton Chamber of Commerce.

Hamilton worked diligently with the Old Newsboys to make sure that every child had a Christmas worth remembering. He was committed to helping and providing for all in need and credited his staff throughout his tenure saying, “I have the best staff and the volunteers are out of this world. Not a week goes by that I don’t hear someone in the community tell me, ‘If it wasn’t for ONB, I wouldn’t have had a Christmas.’ That tugs at my heart strings and keeps me going. I have the best job in the world.”

Thank you, Chris Hamilton. You will be missed.

MCM profiled Mr. Chris Hamilton in December of 2016.
