Back to the Bricks festivities kicked off on the morning of August 6 with the unveiling of the eighth commemorative statue honoring Flint’s automotive pioneers. The life-size bronze statue of Charles Stuart Mott, created by sculptor Joe Rundell, stands near the Mott Community College library entrance.
On July 16, a very enthusiastic crowd gathered at UM-Flint for the Color Vibe 5k Run/Walk. As participants traverse the course, they are “blasted” with blue, yellow, pink, purple and green powdered color (non-toxic, cornstarch-based). Following the run, the crowd enjoyed a dance party with a DJ, “color wars” and giveaways. The event benefitted United Way of Genesee County.
Forty Flint area young filmmakers and their work were recognized July 28th at the Flint Youth Film Festival, hosted and co-sponsored by the Flint Institute of Arts. This red carpet-style event showcased the young talent residing here in Flint.
