There’s no denying that by October, the evenings are cooler and it’s getting dark much earlier – autumn is here and winter is on its way. There will be a day soon when you suddenly realize that the wardrobe turnover from Indian Summer September is due – so, this month’s column will help you get ready for it. We want to make sure that when it comes to assessing what you already have, you’ll be able to breathe new life into a few old favorites and be clear about any gaps in your cool weather wardrobe. Let’s look at some ways to style the autumn 2024 fashion trends.

Texas is a big place. It’s still difficult for my Michigan brain to fully comprehend the vastness of the state.

It’s fall, the leaves are changing colors. The legal world is constantly changing, as well. About 15 years ago, I made two predictions that were immediately disregarded but soon became reality: 1) Same-sex marriage would be legalized, and 2) Marijuana would be legalized. These issues were outlandish then, but commonly accepted now.

While the grilling season is still hanging on, it’s time to start embracing those oven-roasted comfort foods that pair perfectly with the cooler weather. This simple and delicious fall side dish is quick and easy enough for a regular weeknight dinner.

In the world of baseball cards, the most valuable is Honus Wagner’s rookie card that sold at auction for $6.6 million in August 2021. Known as the “Flying Dutchman,” Wagner played for the Louisville Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1897-1917. His 3,420 career hits put him 1,000 hits behind Pete Rose.

September is the month when most retail merchants begin the process of hiring seasonal employees to work through the upcoming holidays. Taking a seasonal job is a terrific way for stay-at-home parents, retirees, students and others to earn some much-needed extra cash. For many, it is a second job.

Brennan was recently in town for a visit after completing an internship in San Antonio, TX and before he returned for his final year of school. It is Self-Care September. You know what to do. Or do you? Of course, you can go get a massage, binge-watch rom-coms or take a really great nap. Technically, any of those counts as self-care. But there is something else you can do to celebrate this month, something that may not sound like it is even for you: forgive someone. Yes, I am suggesting letting someone who has done you wrong off the hook. A massage may sound a lot more pleasant and certainly much easier; but when it comes to long-term benefits for your soul, forgiveness is off the charts.
