Back to the Bricks is just around the corner, ready to celebrate its 20th anniversary of bringing the roar of cars, music and more to the Vehicle City!

On July 2, 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed into law what many may think is the greatest legislation of all time: designating July as National Ice Cream Month, and the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day.

The vehicle featured on the Back to the Bricks 20th Anniversary Main Event logo is owned by Flint residents and longtime car enthusiasts, Bob and Jill Ayre. Both extremely active with the organization, the couple has attended and worked on every Promo Tour and helped at almost all the other events, including Dust ‘Em Off, Tune-Up Week and Main Event week. Bob even helped kick off “Hot Rod High” back in the day, a highly successful Back to the Bricks project we hope to bring back someday. To honor and thank this dedicated couple for all their hard work, their little red truck – named Phyllis – was chosen to adorn the logo for the 20th Anniversary Main Event!

It’s a well known fact: When it comes to winter beauty and frosty fun, Michigan is at the top of the snowcap! We’ve all skied, sledded, skated and snowshoed for years now. We’ve trekked up the same slopes and skated the same ponds. Hiked down the same trails and sledded the same hills. We are experienced with the experience – made the most of The Mitten … or have we? Just when you think you’ve become the world’s foremost expert in all things “Michigan Winter”, something new comes along that puts the hat on the head, the boots on the feet, and the zipper all the way up. Fall in love with winter again by jumping into a full snowdrift of offbeat winter fun!

The Michigan summer is so fleeting … Blink and it’s back to school, back to work, back to short days and long nights. So, naturally, if we have the chance, we need to squeeze every last drop of fun out of the season! Not every vacation has to last a week or more. It’s just as nice to get away for only a day or two.

This fishing season, the folks at Rapala fishing lures encourage adults to take a kid fishing. Why? Because kids represent the future of fishing. According to the American Sportfishing Association, kids who are introduced to fishing at an early age by a trusted adult are more likely to fish as an adult.
