Crossover Outreach

Our Mission
Crossover Outreach exists to show the
love of Christ by providing basic needs,
restoring hope and uplifting our neighbors.

For more than 35 years, Crossover has helped individuals and families in our community during times of greatest need. Meeting basic needs is about more than providing food and household supplies. It also means treating every person with dignity, affirming their worth and helping them move forward. By offering a hand up rather than a handout, we create a welcoming place where people feel seen, valued and supported.

Key Services

  • Food assistance through our in-house pantry and mobile food distributions
  • Personal hygiene items such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap and other personal care essentials
  • Cleaning supplies to help families maintain a safe and healthy home
  • Clothing
  • Household essentials for when someone moves into a new place, including pots and pans, dishes, silverware, utensils, décor and other miscellaneous items
  • Seasonal programs, including our Winter Coat & Boot Program, Back-to-School Program, Thanksgiving assistance, Christmas Program, Easter and summer camp opportunities for children
  • Connections to community resources through our network of more than 120 referral partners

How Can the Community Help?

Give. Financial gifts allow us to purchase the food, personal care products, cleaning supplies and other necessities our neighbors need most. Monthly gifts are especially meaningful because they provide dependable support throughout the year.

Donate. New and gently used clothing, household items, personal care products, cleaning supplies and other needed items help keep our shelves stocked and our services available to the community. We accept donations Tuesday through Friday, from 9 AM to 3 PM. To help our team efficiently sort, label and distribute donated items, we kindly ask that donations be limited to four bags or boxes per drop-off.

Volunteer. From sorting donations and stocking shelves to helping with special programs and events, volunteers make a tremendous difference in what we can accomplish.

Partner. Businesses, churches, organizations and community groups can support Crossover through sponsorships, food and supply drives, employee volunteer opportunities, financial gifts and other creative partnerships.

Most importantly, share our story. When you tell a friend, family member, business, church or organization about Crossover, you help more people understand the needs in our community and discover ways they can make a difference.

Are There Plans to Enhance Services?

We continually look for ways to meet people where they are and make our services more accessible. Recently, Crossover was named one of five finalists for the Impact 100 Genesee County Big Give, which awards $100,000 to a local nonprofit for a transformative community project.

Our proposal focused on adding refrigerated food lockers so clients could pick up food and essential items outside regular operating hours. Similar to an Amazon Hub, clients would select available items, schedule a pickup and receive a unique code to open their assigned locker.

This option would especially benefit people who work during regular pantry hours, may feel uncomfortable asking for help and value a discreet way to access what they need, or otherwise cannot visit Crossover while we are open.

Upcoming Events

While we do not have any special events scheduled in the immediate future, we are actively preparing for several seasonal programs designed to make the holidays a little brighter for local families.

Beginning October 13, we opened registration for our Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance programs, which help families provide holiday meals and gifts for their children during the holiday season.

Then, starting November 3, we will begin distributing brand-new winter coats, hats, gloves and boots to children in need, while supplies last. Through this program, we hope to ensure every child has access to the warm clothing they need to stay safe, comfortable and protected throughout the winter months.
