True Peace

The world around us is filled with systems and beliefs that promise us something: financial stability, the perfect marriage, success, popularity, good health, or a happy life. But what happens when those promises turn out to be empty? What happens when our health fails, when the money is gone, or when our marriage hits a rough patch? Where do we turn? What is there that supersedes it all and can offer peace, even in life’s storms?

In the Bible, Jesus says, “In this world you will have trouble.” Through this truth, He was not trying to bring us down or make this world seem miserable and unbearable. Instead, He was preparing us for a reality that we all come to understand at some point in our lives. This world, the one you and I live in together, is broken. Our health sometimes fails, money runs out, people we love get hurt, and all that we strive for can come crumbling down.

It is through Jesus that true peace can enter our lives and settle in our hearts.
Are you ready for true peace in a broken world? Have you called upon His name?

But Jesus does not leave us alone to deal with this difficult truth. Instead, He offers hope as He continues, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” When Jesus surrendered Himself to death on the cross, He took upon Himself the sins and brokenness of all mankind. Through His resurrection, He defeated even death itself. Through faith in what He did for us on the cross, He offers a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that sustains us even in the hardest circumstances. Jesus sets us free from the shackles of sin, darkness, and the brokenness of this world.

The beginning of John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace.” Jesus understands the world we live in because He lived in it, too. He knows how difficult life can be and is waiting for you to call upon His name. It is through Jesus that true peace can enter our lives and settle in our hearts.

Are you ready for true peace in a broken world? Have you called upon His name?
