What is your reaction to Jesus? Everybody has one upon learning of His Name and the many claims of His reality and power.
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, a group of astrological interpreters came to Jerusalem led by a star in the eastern sky. Upon arrival, they announced that they had come to worship Him Who had been born, King of the Jews. That was their reaction. Worship.
Those men were led to Jesus by a star. What has led you to Jesus?
A woman who attended a gospel campaign event a few years ago told one of our team members, “Something I cannot explain was just telling me to be here tonight.” Many are like that woman in that they feel a calling to their searching heart and find their destination at the person of Jesus.
Others are led to Him by tragedy and pain. Still, like the wise inquisitors from the east so long ago, some are led by intellect. Many still stare at the night sky in wide-eyed wonder, only to have the questions arise. What does it all mean? Where did it come from? Why am I here? What happens when we die?
Psalm 19 tells us that the heavens declare the handiwork of God. Romans tells us that the heavens leave all men without an excuse for their unbelief. Colossians exclaims that Jesus has made all things both in the heavens and on earth. But why? To draw all men unto Himself for forgiveness of sin, the healing of our souls, and eternal redemption.
While the wise men bowed down and worshipped Jesus, others reacted differently.
“When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”
“Many still stare at the night sky in wide-eyed wonder, only to have the questions arise. What does it all mean? Where did it come from? Why am I here? What happens when we die?”
