Fenton Village Players presents: Crazy for You

A zany rich boy meets hometown girl romantic comedy. This musical tells the story of New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, NV to foreclose on a rundown theater. He falls for spunky Polly Baker, the theater owner’s daughter. Polly takes an instant dislike to city slicker Bobby so he resolves to win Polly’s heart and save the theater. For history buffs and curious residents alike, this tour will feature iconic spaces and places throughout the county. You will learn about some of Genesee County’s unique assets while touring cherished relics of days past: Frances Willson Thompson Library – Genesee Historical Collections Center – guided tour, Whaley Historic House Museum – guided tour, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church – guided tour,

Durant Dort Carriage Headquarters – presentation on mid-century modern architecture in Flint and Genesee County — self-guided tours, Glenwood Cemetery – guided walking tour. A lot of walking will be taking place on this tour and requires that you take the bus to all locations. One bus will go to each stop on the tour. Buses will load, depart and let off at First Street, on the side of the Mott Foundation Building at the corner of First and Saginaw streets. 8am-12pm. For-Mar Nature Preserve: Grandparents Day: Fairy and Gnome Homes

Bring your grandma and grandpa and join For-Mar on a hunt for fairy and gnome homes hidden throughout the preserve. Then, travel back to the Visitor Center and design your own fairy or gnome home to take with you. Recommended for families of all ages. Pre-registration is required by July 11. 10am-12pm.

Fenton Art Walk

Hosted by the Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation, the Fenton ArtWalk is a fun, family-friendly community event celebrating the arts and showcasing local and regional talent with the visual art, music, entertainment, technology integrated art and children’s activities. Artists will display their work along the streets of Downtown Fenton. Visitors can also enjoy Fenton’s beautiful downtown offering excellent restaurants and boutique shopping. 10am-7pm

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad — Living as the Past

Travel back to a time when things were a whole lot simpler. Crossroads Village is a Great Lakes town from the turn of the century with 34 historic structures and a thriving community. Enjoy a 40-minute journey on an authentic Baldwin Steam locomotive, the Huckleberry Railroad, take a scenic ride on the Genesee Belle, a replica of the paddlewheel riverboats that were popular during Mark Twain’s time, catch a show at the Colwell Opera House or learn a trade from one of the village’s craftspeople. Come dressed as your favorite 19th Century icon and celebrate Living as the Past. There will be period costumed guests on display, a costume contest, make-and-take crafts and more. It is recommended that Huckleberry Railroad train tickets by purchased in advance as the train often sells out. 10am-5pm.

Longway Planetarium: Second Saturday Trivia Night

Flint City Bucks vs. the Dayton Dutch Lions

Flint’s new USL League Two, the Flint City Bucks, will play against the Dayton Dutch Lions. The Flint City Bucks is part of the USL League Two Pre-Professional Soccer in the United States and Canada and provides the elite platform for those pursuing professional soccer careers domestically and internationally. 7-9pm.
