Flint Repertory Theater: Songs About Stuff: The Music of Wally Pleasant

Welcome to the hilarious world of mid-Michigan singer/songwriter Wally Pleasant! This intimate world premiere musical revue is an offbeat celebration of his music, humor and quirky way of looking at the world. Enjoy an opening night reception following tonight’s performance. Flint Institute of Arts: Flint Art Fair

Attracting thousands of visitors each year, this two-day summer event held on the second weekend in June, is located on the grounds of the Flint Institute of Arts in the Flint Cultural Center. Juried to ensure the highest caliber of artists, the event introduces original works from as many as 175 established and emerging artists from Michigan and beyond, in various genres including ceramics, glass, painting, jewelry, fiber, metal, mixed media, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Friday: General admission: $5. Children 12 and under: Free. Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 11am-5pm.

Saturday Morning Community Yoga

Join your friends and neighbors for Saturday Yoga at the Ferris Wheel Building.

The donation-based community yoga class, will meet in the lobby of the Ferris Wheel. This 45-minute class is open to all levels.

Grandparents Day: Gone Fishing

Grab your favorite grandma and grandpa and join the For-Mar Fishing Team at Buell Lake for a Fun Fishing Adventure from 10am-12pm. Poles and bait will be supplied. Recommended for families of all ages. Pre-registration by June 7.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad: Fiber Festival

Travel back to a time when things were a whole lot simpler. Crossroads Village is a Great Lakes town from the turn of the century with 34 historic structures and a thriving community. Enjoy a 40-minute journey on an authentic Baldwin Steam locomotive, the Huckleberry Railroad, take a scenic ride on the Genesee Belle, a replica of the paddlewheel riverboats that were popular during Mark Twain’s time, catch a show at the Colwell Opera House or learn a trade from one of the village’s craftspeople. On June 8, learn all about sheep shearing, spinning, weaving, felting, wool dying and more while meeting Alpacas, rabbits and sheep. There will also be vendors and a fashion show. It is recommended that Huckleberry Railroad train tickets be purchased in advance as the train often sells out. 10am-5pm.

Second Saturday Trivia Night

Team up with friends in groups of six or less and compete against other challengers in six common categories including Science, History, Geography, Literature, Pop Culture and more. Battle it out for bragging rights and small prizes for the top three teams. Recommended for ages 13 and older. 6-8pm. Admission includes 7pm laser show.

Flint Cycle Fest

In celebration of Flint’s growing biking community, enjoy this new event for anyone who likes to ride a bike — from beginners to enthusiasts, of all ages and abilities. The event offers three courses: two to three-mile course, ten-mile course and 20-mile course, all showing off some of the best and most interesting parts of Flint. All routes start in the afternoon and end with a great party. Proceeds from this event will go towards creating a more walkable and bikeable community in Flint and Genesee County through education, infrastructure and policy change. Free parking is available at Atwood Stadium, 701 University Ave., Flint. 2-5pm.
