We always get comments on our cover art, which highlights the talent of the My City Art Department. I love this festive illustration of GM founders Billy Durant and J. Dallas Dort. I’m so proud of our magazine every month and grateful for the opportunity to share it with so many people.

When choosing content for each issue, we always consider timeliness – of course, this month has a holiday feel, with articles about those who give so much at this time of year and all year long. We also have a guide to local holiday events – Flint is a great place to be during the holidays! Check out the unique food and drink ideas for your celebrations, and a fun “Flashback” to some favorite toys from Christmases past. My favorite isn’t included in the article, but it was definitely a full cowboy outfit, complete with a hat and holster with two plastic “six-shooters.” Good times!

There’s always more to write about Flint’s continued forward progress, and those who are using their talents and resources to make it happen. The Ferris Wheel is rolling forward with amazing potential to help people in Greater Flint turn their ideas into viable ventures. And, my friends Glenn and Essence Wilson continue their dedication to creating change in their city with the Third Annual African American Film Series.

As always, we have many pages of photos of people supporting recent events and raising funds for Greater Flint causes. Everyone loves our My Haps sections, but MCM has received a couple of comments about these photos – that they don’t represent the people of Flint. Well, the people you see ARE the people of Flint – those who pay to attend the events, give of their time and have positive experiences in their community. Their smiling faces fill 14 pages this month.

Along with all of this is our regular complement of interesting and popular topics including My Sports, My Story, My Hero, My History and My Music, as well as our great group of columnists who contribute their thoughts and expertise every month.

At this writing, Thanksgiving is just a day away, and I have much to be thankful for; in particular, the dedicated employees of all my companies – without them, I wouldn’t be in business today.

I hope your holidays are filled with family, love and happiness.
