A spray-tan has become a popular part of pre-wedding preparations for the bride, groom and bridal party. Stacie Norvell of sunless industry-leading Norvell Tanning offers her top tips for achieving the perfect golden glow for the Big Day:
Schedule a spray-tan at least one month prior to your wedding to make sure you love the color, and the spray-tan technician, if you opt for custom-airbrushing. Then, be sure to follow the exact same recipe: the solution color, technician and skin-prep routine to ensure the same results for the Big Day.
You want your “trial tan” to completely fade before your pre-wedding spray (7-10 days).
You cannot get wet, work out, shower, etc., for eight hours after your session; so plan accordingly!
If you choose a spray-tan solution with a bronzer, be sure you don’t have a dress-fitting scheduled before you’re able to shower.
While a nice massage will sound like a great idea a couple of days before the wedding, keep in mind that massage oils can break down the sunless tan.
Get your mani/pedi BEFORE your spray-tan; scrubbing and soaking can lighten or even remove your color.
Your best color usually develops on Day 2. I recommend a Thursday night or Friday morning session for a Saturday wedding – no sooner – and you’ll be good to glow!
